Building a Business that fits into your lifestyle!

As we approach the end of the year and start planning for 2027 at LET's Network, I've been reflecting on what brought me here and what this next phase looks like.

For many years, I worked as a team of one. I was the glue that held everything together, and I thought the question, "How do you do it?" was a badge of honour. I believed it meant I was hustling harder than everyone around me and proving my worth.

I was connected and available almost all the time (even before cell phones became what they are today), and I was unable to take a real break because things couldn't function without me. I had no support systems, no processes, and no idea that I was my own worst enemy. In the words of a famous pop star: "Hi, it's me. I'm the problem, it's me."

At this stage of life, I've realized that one of the most important parts of building a business is creating a life you don't need a vacation from. We talk a lot about finding our passion and escaping the 9-to-5. We joke that entrepreneurs end up working 24/7 instead. But we don't spend nearly enough time talking about the real draw of entrepreneurship: time freedom.

It's the ability to set your own schedule and build a life where you can be present for your family, attend a school event without asking permission, or meet a friend for coffee at 2:00 on a Tuesday. The real love affair with entrepreneurship isn't working more. It's creating a lifestyle that gives you more choice.

This is where my fascination with systems and the behind-the-scenes side of business comes in. When I was that team of one all those years ago, I was so busy working in the business that I never stepped back to examine the ways I was making things harder for myself.

Now, as we build LET's Network, systems and efficiency have become my sweet spot. We're all busy moms with young families. We don't have time for complicated manual processes or working ourselves into the ground, although I'm certainly still guilty of it from time to time.

My years in corporate taught me the value of standardization, and today's technology makes it easier than ever to implement systems, even if you're running a business on your own.

As we head into another season of planning and goal setting, I'd love to hear from you:

What's one thing in your business you wish you could streamline?

What's taking far too much of your time and energy, and what would it mean for your life if that process could run more smoothly?
